Frozen Raw shrimps are procured from farms set along the coasts of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal. After processing, these shrimps are exported to the China, UAE, Belgium, Japan, Canada, Malaysia and other countries in the Gulf and Europe.
These penaeid shrimps are retractable chelae in the first three sets of walking legs. The rostrum is protracted. In adults, the apex of the rostrum outstretches the centre of the second rostral segment. Both the hepatic and antennal spines are indubitably visible and close concertedly
Despite being 25 to 30 cm long for females, and being substantially shorter at 20 to 25 cm, they can heighten to be 33 cm long. The carapace and abdomen are anomalously banded longitudinally with vermillion and bleached hues. The antennae are a tinge of blanched brown. Perma-tanned pereiopods and pleopods with red fringed setae are devised.
They are predominantly in a dingy shade, with a black and snowy white transverse stripe on the carapace and abdomen, with the remainder of the body spanning from ecru to beryl , with some smaller individuals showcasing a dull red dorsal strip from the rostrum to the sixth abdominal segment.
The uropodal margins are azure with a vibrant carmine flounce, while the eyestalks and antennal scales are cerulean. The rostrum is interminable and attenuated. Ginormous specimens display a slightly high rostrum blade.
